How does so much sound come from 4 musicians?
Those who know live music are often left with that question after experiencing a live British Dependency performance.
Formed in Anguilla, British Dependency leverages the band members' Caribbean roots, artfully balancing drums, bass and two guitars with lyrical overlays of wisdom, curiosity, and love to create a sound not easily categorized, but rooted in reggae. It’s an eclectic sound that’s sometimes grooving, body-moving, gentle, funky, laced with rock & roll, but always grounded in a reggae, bluesy soulful zone.
Fleming, the magnetic band leader and entertainer on drums, is motivated by hard work and it shows when he plays. He could be a one-man-show, yet he exercises self-control to create harmony with the talented group. Be on the lookout for Fleming’s solo.
“Cool ruler” Marvin's bass lines bring the depth needed to ground the band’s eclectic sound, except when it's time to fly. And then it's freedom. Loved by many, Marvin is a man of peace, who is known to speak through his actions and music.
