"A sound and live show that would turn 5-piece bands green with envy.” – veri.live magazine
“KOTN redefine what a kick ass two-piece can do, they’re world class.” -Australian Guitar magazine
KING OF THE NORTH are Andrew Higgs (Guitar/Vocals) & Steve Tyssen (Drums/ Backing Vocals).
What creates the massive sound KOTN are known for? The “3 from 1 guitar” guitar pedal pioneered by KOTN singer/guitarist Andrew Higgs. It makes one guitar sound like 2 guitars and a bass so the 3 parts can be played live, separately or simultaneously, like a normal band. This creation landed Higgsy a listing in the 100th issue of Australian Guitar magazine’s “25 future legends of the guitar”. This pedal and it's sound has had an influence on many guitarists in Australia and made a formidable impact on the two-piece band format. As far as drummers go, Steve Tyssen has one of the best feels and grooves going around. Steve is the fresh face to the KOTN line up and an artist in his own right. His songwriting and vocal ability adds volumes to the depth of KOTN.
