☀️ Sun-kissed and steeped in hazy reggae grooves, MUFASSA & The Summer Haze are known for bringing lush summer vibes and infectious smiles wherever they go — as Nkechi Anele of Triple J puts it, they’re pure “Hazy-Reggae” joy.
💃 Their sound is drenched in dancefloor rhythms, blending traditional reggae roots with classic ’70s surf tones, bold brass hooks, and an undeniable froth for good times. Originally hailing from the Sunshine Coast, MUFASSA now calls southwest WA home after six nomadic years raising a family on the road.
🌊 His music is deeply connected to the Australian coastline — inspired by its raw beauty and laid-back spirit. This lovable Lion shares stories through song: tales of dusty travels across sunburnt plains, the highs and lows of life, the ebb and flow of friendships, and the enduring power of family and love.
🎶 With three studio EPs already making waves — charting at #2, #3, and #5 on the National AMRAP Regional Charts — MUFASSA is gearing up for a fresh summer release in 2025. His upcoming tracks, “Tallulah,” “Setting Sun,” and “Feed the Fire,” pick up where his latest EP “Drifting Away” left off, continuing his creative partnership with roots maestro Paulie B (aka Lord Tanuki) at Yama-Nui Studio.
🔥 MUFASSA’s live shows are celebrated for their authenticity and warmth. He weaves personal stories and earthy anecdotes into each performance, a gift he credits to childhood nights spent around campfires, swapping tales and laughter with family and friends.
🌏 From east to west, north to south, MUFASSA’s journey is one of salt, sand, and sound. Follow the ride, connect online or catch a show near you. Support by grabbing some merch — or simply kick back and enjoy the tunes. x
🌱 MUFASSA IN THE COMMUNITY
MUFASSA is more than a musician — he’s a grassroots changemaker. As an ambassador for YouTurn Youth Support (Sunshine Coast), he’s actively raising awareness around youth mental health, volunteering his time to inspire and uplift the next generation.
Since 2020, MUFASSA has been running music workshops and events in the Gulf Country of Queensland — check out the vids on YouTube! 🎥 What began as a community initiative has grown into the Dreamtime Music Project, which recently unearthed a talented youth band from Doomadgee: The DMC Boys.
Under MUFASSA’s mentorship, the DMC Boys have recorded their debut album, Yugurlda People — a powerful collection of Dreamtime stories from the lands of the Gangalidda and Wanyi people. With support from Arts QLD and the Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council, MUFASSA and the DMC Boys will release and tour the album across Australia throughout 2025–26.
💬 WORDS FROM MUFASSA
“I didn’t understand much about our country’s culture growing up — for some reason, it wasn’t taught in our schools 🤔. Now, I take every opportunity to immerse myself in it. The more I connect with the land and its people — those who protect it — the more I learn and the better life I can create for my children.”
“Music forms the soul of our community. It tells stories, shares knowledge, inspires us, and brings people together through some of the most honest and vulnerable self-expressions. Without music, we lose those uniquely powerful experiences that shape our memories and connections. Now more than ever, music is an essential part of our health and wellbeing — both individually and collectively. My music is my contribution to healing — for our world, and for our community.”
