Percussionist Drummers The leader -- Andre E. Small & Afrikumba Utibe Drummers, Andre E. Small was born in Trinidad and Tobago on May 24, 1963 he was influenced by his Great Grandmother who started him playing the djembe` drum in Trinidad Tobago, and after arriving in America many years ago he started playing drums professionally. As Mr. Small moved from one year to another the group was formed, and as a group they entertained everyone from one part of the United Stated of America with their sound into another world of sound. Upon crossing the ocean with his drums, and his players backing him up, as his hands has flown across his djembe` drum the world and its doors has opened for him, and his players today. New York is the home for the Leader Mr. Small, and his Drummers, and as a group, the rhythms they beat out on those drums make you remember why we as a people love music. Floyd plays with the steel pan competition throughout the years as well as preforming with other varied drummers from Harlem, New York. Steven a new beginner who wanted the djembe` drum to be a part of his life pick up his learning instructions from Mr. Small, and has been with the group ever since his journey begin with Afrikumba Drummers. Steven the photographer, fills his life with work as well as becoming a professional photographer is also a part of the group because of his love of the drum from hearing the group playing in the subways of New York. Each drummer has a life filled with djembe` drums performing with different groups throughout the tristate area of New York.
The World has been their performance stage from Australia and different parts of the world since this journey begin. Afrikumba Utibe` Drummers mainstay has been New York each player’s home is in different boroughs of the tristate area. They have, and do perform for the different venues upon request from:
