Long Bio
Andy’s unique sound draws from his diverse cultural background and life experiences, having lived in England, Mexico, India and Germany.
Growing up, in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, immersed in his father’s eclectic collection of music was the perfect setting for a self-taught, alt-roots / blues singer songwriter. Influenced by the works of the Motown greats Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Ray Charles and Delta Blues greats Muddy Waters, Taj Mahal, Junior Kimbrough his performances are commanding and passionately intense.
Andy’s alt-roots sound combines soulful vocals with percussive guitar, bass and foot operated percussion in a one man band format. His vocals effortlessly transition from smooth falsettos to thunderous, pure blues gravel and when combined with percussive rhythms and bass, are both captivating and honest.
Andy has performed interstate and at a number of festivals including Savannah in the Round (FNQ), Wallaby Creek Folk Festival (FNQ), Tablelands Folk Festival (FNQ) Townsville Folk Festival (FNQ), Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival (NT), Tin Town Festival (FNQ), Coalescence Music Festival (FNQ), River Sessions (FNQ), Black Mountain Unplugged (BMUP) (FNQ), North Australian Festival of the Arts (NAFA) (FNQ) and Townsville Cultural Festival (FNQ).
