Since she was 7 years old, Caitlin has been astounding people with her vocals and alternate takes on the songs she loves. As a singer/songwriter, her songs are her stories and her passions are her performances. As a graduate of the 2024 CMAA Academy Music Academy in Tamworth, she has set her sights to the horizon from her small country town roots.
Having found country music later in life, Caitlin Drew has found her roots in the genre with inspiration from artists such as Ashley McBride, Laniey Wilson and Miranda Lambert.
Having worked with some great guitarists around Australia has seen her play soft acoustic rock sets in Karratha, WA; contemporary pop in the Adelaide Hills and country/folk on the West Coast of South Australia. Caitlin has fronted a Gospel Choir led by Tony Backhouse on a fundraising tour around Australia. She’s even had the opportunity to sing a Waif’s song with the group’s guitarist Josh Cunningham accompanying her!
Working with the choir was also an opportunity to tour the US and sing in Nashville, Chicago, New Orleans and Memphis. She says, “this experience really grounded me in my country roots and allowed me to explore not just music but the culture behind gospel, country and folk.”
2020 saw Caitlin open herself up to rock influence when she accompanied ‘Critical Limit’ at Rock the Ranges in Quorn, SA opening for The Zepp Boys.
2021 started off big with her opening for Oz country legend Adam Brand at Quorn and The Cherry Pickers at The Barn at Wombat Flat.
Caitlin was the recipient of the Emerging Artist Scholarship through The Barn at Wombat Flat
The Copper and Stone Music Festival (2022) was an incredible achievement for Caitlin as she opened the stage in front of a home crowd for the likes of Kate Ceberano and Wendy Matthews.
The Curdimurka Outback Ball (2022) allowed Caitlin to perform on stage with her Country Music idols Adam Brand, Troy Cassar-Daley, Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley
2023 saw Caitlin sharing the stage in festivals with the likes of The Choir Boys, Mel Dyer, Mahalia Barns and The Black Sorrows.
2024 has opened up Caitlin's career ever since she graduated from the CMAA Country Music Academy.
"As owner/manager of The Barn at Wombat Flat, one of SA’s best rural music venues, I’m delighted to have been asked to comment on Caitlin Drew.
Caitlin was one of 8 successful applicants (among 25) for our inaugural Emerging Artist Scholarship Program. As part of our program she was mentored in music business management by Kelly Brouhaha, musician and music industry lecturer. I also spent time helping her to understand the industry from the perspective of the venue owner.
As part of her scholarship, Caitlin was invited to open a show for one of our headliners, the Cherry Pickers. She played solo for 30 minutes and was very well received by the audience, particularly her original material.
We wish her all the best with her music career and hope to have her back at some time in the future."
