The Biography of LOCKSLEY
Locksley was born in Tower Hill, St. Andrew to Esther "Pam" Warner Dixon & Prince Alexander Dixon. He embraced music from a very young age and frustrated his mother endlessly by using the bottom of her bath pans as his drums. His grandfather was a trumpet player and he may not remember much about him, but he sure inherited the music gene. As the saying goes, "the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree". However, he credits his older brother Lenny, now deceased, as the first person who exposed him to the guitar at the age of 8 years old. Although at times his brother was a very tough task master, that did not discourage Locksley. He practiced through the tears but the tears did not last very long because he was a natural who picked up his brother's teachings very quickly.
After high school, Locksley made a decision to pursue his dream and his career path of being a musician. His parents and other family members were skeptical of the decision, but Locksley, being the persuasive and persistent person that he is, was able to convince them that music was a passion.
At age 18 he enrolled in the Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts for formal training. After he completed Edna Manley he kept busy in the studio laying tracks or working with artiste like Sizzla, I-Wayne, Jermaine Edwards, Judy Mowatt and many more.
Locksley is a proficient guitarist and keyboardist whose career as a musician has taken him to many parts of the world with the likes of Jimmy Cliff, Queens Ifrika, Tony Rebel and Warrior King.
He has also produced three gospel albums of his own and also produced for gospel artiste, Sister Nicky.
Locksley admits that playing for Jimmy Cliff has fulfilled many dreams. He has played in front of Kings and Queens as part of Jimmy Cliff's band and was also honored to play at the Hollywood Bowl, one of the largest venues in the world. Now with a thirst to launch his own career path, Locksley's hope is to move from the back of the stage to his own space, front and centre to inspire and entertain audiences worldwide.
