DOBBY is a true force of nature, with his electrifying live performances leaving audiences spellbound. A rapper, drummer, composer, and producer, he brings an unmatched energy to the stage. Proudly identifying as Filipino and Murrawarri, DOBBY's roots run deep in the Aboriginal lands of Brewarrina and Weilmoringle in New South Wales.
His debut album, WARRANGU; River Story, won the ARIA for Best World Album and was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize. The album’s second single, "Ancestor," was the #1 most played song on FBi Radio in 2024, while the full album was Album of the Week on FBi Radio, Double J, and 2SER. DOBBY was also nominated for Double J's Australian Artist of the Year and received the Hage Award from Sweatshop Literacy Movement.
DOBBY’s music has taken him worldwide, from Germany to the UK, the USA to the Netherlands, and across major Australian festivals, including Splendour in the Grass, Bluesfest, Boomerang Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, PARRTJIMA, OzAsia, and the Sydney Opera House. He also performed at Australia’s 2021-22 New Year’s Eve Fireworks.
His protest anthem "Until We're All Free" was nominated for an FBi SMAC Award for Best Video 2024. His song "I CAN’T BREATHE" won Best Video at the FBi SMAC Awards in 2020 and remains an anthem for Australia’s Bla(c)k Lives Matter movement, used in schools to educate students on First Nations justice.
Beyond live performance, DOBBY composed all soundscapes for PARRTJIMA 2021 & 2022 in Alice Springs and scored Australia's first 500-strong drone show, Elevate Sydney (2022 & 2023).
With his signature “drapping” style—seamlessly blending rapping and drumming—DOBBY continues to push artistic boundaries. He is frequently named a "buzz act" and "one to watch" at festivals worldwide, including The Great Escape (UK) and Reeperbahn (GER).
In 2022, DOBBY was awarded the NIMA Archie Roach Foundation Award, recognising his exceptional talent as a First Nations artist.
