About

Dora Smith is an indigenous singer songwriter from Broome in Western Australia. The 23 year old musician first started learning the guitar at age 12 and then later began song writing at 15 and has been doing it ever since. Dora creates punk pop music with a tinge of girly rap and also beatboxes in her songs.

In 2015 she won a national songwriting competition, which saw her flown to Alice Springs to record a single at the CAAMA Music studios. She gets her influence from mainly American punk bands such as Green Day, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan but her idols come from various genres, successful artists like Bob Marley and Michael Jackson. Dora says "Music is medicine, it can heal you and I guess my guitar makes the perfect therapist".

Dora Smith loves all types of music and sees the beauty in the art. Her dream is to connect with people around the world through her music, to make people dance and feel good when they start to listen to her songs. She wishes to inspire people to always follow their dreams and to never let self-doubt stop them from truly trying in life.

Dora Smith has recently recorded her first EP, due for release through CAAMA Music in 2016.
