Ellis Undercover
Ellis Undercover picked her name after three years teaching music and songwriting in maximum security Correctional and Juvenile Justice centres. She called the stage home long before this experience, writing songs from age 12 and performing live from 14. This role in her 20s shaped her unique perspective on the world, bleeding into her songwriting as she began to tell Australia's most unlikely stories through her country-folk lens. Her sound focusses on acoustic guitar and storytelling making her audience root for the underdog and fall in love with characters they have never met. After writing and recording across many genres Elle has come-back to her roots recording her debut EP in 2026 covering everything from growing up rural to searching for a love story like her parents. With jaw dropping stories to tell, encapsulating but cheeky stage presence and vocals to back it all up its clear why Elle has been able to support and work with respected Australian acts such as Thirsty Merc, Killing Heidi, Ash Grunwald and Wade Forster. Graduating from the first class of the End FM BEATS Program, Ellis Undercover is ready to take the stage at the Deni Ute Muster.
Background
Growing up rural Elle was raised in Wellington NSW until she graduated high school, gigging in the local pub and original music scene from fourteen years old. During this time she shared the stage with local and touring artists such as Killing Heidi, Fanny Lumsden, Stu Larson and many more.
After high school she relocated to Sydney to study Music Industry and worked both as a musician and as an event manager for Sydney based and touring events. Post study during Covid Elle moved back inland and continued working in events and ticketing in rural Australia as well as gigging regularly. She scored support for respected artists such as Ash Grunwald, Thirsty Merc and Kav Temperly to name a few. In her 20s a unique career change occurred when she was approached about teaching music and songwriting inside a correctional centre. This opportunity led to three years of teaching in maximum security Correctional Centres and then also Juvenile Justice, helping inmates to write, record, produce and perform their original music inside the gaol. During this three years she released two singles "False Gods" and "Show me how deep I can fall" and toured regional Australia four times and travelled to Italy to write and record with artists and producers from all over the world. Creating music in such a unique environment, inspired Elle to write songs telling crazy Australian stories. This drew her back to her country folk roots and she begun to work on her debut EP in 2026. Budget cuts led to departing her teaching job and committing to her artist project full time. This involved graduating from the Tamworth Country Music Festival Academy in January as well as End FM BEATS program partnered with the Deni Ute Muster in March gaining her industry eyes and the opportunity to work with acts such as Wade Forster. After years building her craft and insane experiences shaping her songwriting Ellis Undercover is ready to be seen.
