An Independent Singer – Songwriter – Guitarist based in South West Victoria.
Fiona has been involved in music and performing arts for the past 30 years . An Australian songwriting award winner though ASA (Australian Songwriters Association) in 2001 in the Space Category for her song ‘Infinite’. An APRA full-writer member since 1996, Fiona has released many albums, EP’s and Singles which can be found on streaming sites like Spotify & YouTube , and Bandcamp.
Fiona has applied to perform at many Australian Folk Music Festivals in her career and has been fortunate to be accepted into a few international favourites, performing originals. Including her solo performance at Port Fairy Folk Festival in Victoria in 2018, and Duo performance Yungaburra Folk Festival in Far North Queensland in 2004 & 2006, and many more smaller festivals around Australia, Including Village Arts Festival in QLD , with her band ‘The Fringedwellers’ Upwelling Festival in Portland Victoria, Arockalypse in Warrnambool VIC and The Tarerer Showcase/ Aus Music Festival in Warrnambool at The Lighthouse Theatre supporting Neil Murray & Archie Roach in 2015. Fiona and her Son on Bass, performed at St Brigid’s Blues & Roots Festival in Crossley VIC in 2019.
Fiona is very creative and often films her own music videos with photography taken of her surrounds in the beautiful South West Victoria region she lives in, the beaches, waterfalls, rivers, bush walks, and country drives are a continuing theme. Art work by Fiona in mixed media collage styles, modern fun expressions of the ocean and sunsets also appear in her videos and merchandise. Fiona is very supportive in the community to help promote other songwriters and established a Facebook page ‘South West Sounds’ to help promote singer/songwriters and bands based in South West Victoria since 2016. The page developed into a blog and then real live events titled ‘Songwriters Showcase’ held at The Loft in 2018 and at The Seanchai Irishbar in Warrnambool in 2019.
Fiona began her music career in Rockhampton Queensland in a working pub country/rock cover band “Horizon” as a lead guitarist and backing singer in the 90s. However moving to Brisbane in 1996 at age 20 to pursue her own solo performance with her original music, releasing her first EP ‘Freedom’ was when Fiona really began zoning into her own uniqueness as a songwriter recording Artist and performer.
