Georgia Corowa: A Soulful Journey with Music
Georgia Corowa, Bundjalung, Innigai and South Sea Islander woman is a singer, songwriter, musician and performing artist, based on the island of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). Raised with love, music, and the saltwater, Georgia’s musical style resonates with relaxed, soulful, and heartfelt tones. Georgia’s soulful sound and unique storytelling have captivated audiences both nationally and internationally. She has supported and shared the stage with renowned artists like Emma Donovan, Deline Briscoe, Fred Leone, Xavier Rudd, Katie Noonan and David Bridie.
Growing up on Juru country in a coastal town, Bowen, a vibrant community of First Nations, South Sea and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Her upbringing included playing guitar and piano by ear, harmonizing with family, strong heartfelt vocals through song. Georgia was surrounded by a melting pot of natural musical talent supported by the local church and family gatherings. Georgia’s talent blossomed when she completed an Advanced Diploma in Performing arts at the ACPA, Brisbane in 2008 under the direction of Leah Purcell. Georgia’s multiskilled talents and passion for first nations stories and songs led her into many projects and performances such as:

A seasoned performer and generous with her talents, Georgia is involved with many creative development projects, music workshops, community and corporate events. Last year she was a recipient of the program ‘Space to Create’ at Yill Lull Studios developing her skills in recording music and is currently working with Candy Suites Studios on her EP. She was nominated for a Matilda Award 2024 for 'Best Supporting role in a musical' for her work in the first ever Torres Strait Island musical theatre show ‘Straight from the Straits’ at QPAC in August 2024. She currently performs solo and with her vocal trio ‘Suga Cane Mamas’ who recently performed at Magandjin/Brisbane's Black Bold Beautiful event.
