Ras I-Maric is a very passionate reggae singer/songwriter who takes his career seriously, he was born with a God given talent to do music and play football, growing up as a youth in one of the rural garrison in Jamaica, at the age of 13 I-Maric started singing, free styling with and against some of his friends at school and home but didn't realized that he had a gift and never took it seriously.
I-Maric was born and raised in the heart of Kingston Jamaica without a father figure; he lost his dad at the age of 3 by a stray bullet fired by gunman and police shootout while on his job, he was a fisherman. so that applied a lot of pressure on I-Maric mother who had to go round wash people clothes jus to provide food for her 5 kids
Growing up in Kingston 11 wasn't a bed of roses for I-Maric, he went through fed a lot of struggle, hardship, sufferation and sleepless nights without dinner and going to school without lunch, I-Maric attended Dunoon Technical High School didn’t graduate because of financial reason. His dream was to become a professional footballer, he played School Boy Football Premier League and also for his work place in Jamaica before he got the opportunity migrate to England in 1999 to go college.
In 2004 I-Maric started his musical career with a versatile and unique sound. However, it was not until 2007, that a chance meeting and subsequent collaboration with Paula ‘Suzie Q’ Henry led to his first single “Oh Mama”.
Working alongside Suzie Q presented I-Maric with several opportunities including opening for Da’ Ville at a Mother’s Day showcase in Queens New York. In 2009 while in Jamaica promoting I-Maric got a important call from former business partner and manager for Vybz Kartel, mr Corey Todd about music ventures. I-Maric has also performed in Hartford, Boston, Manhattan, and Philadelphia, by sharing his craft at benefit shows for Haitian victims who experienced the earthquake in 2010. That humanitarian effort was indeed a great experience for him and something that he will never forget.
Hard working, focused, determines, ambitious and humble these are but a few words to describe I-Maric, this up and coming artist is a cut above the rest. In 2016 he release his hit song, ‘Who Feels It Knows’ it continues to clime the charts to this day. Due to a football injury in the same year the artist was forced to take time out from both music and football, in order to recover.
That unforeseen break didn’t stop him, nearly every day he connected with his fans on social media with new lyrical inspirations, doing music in London seems hard at times for I-Maric so he decided to go back home to His roots.
