Mantracoda is an outfit that was established by singer/songwriter Jake Brookes after he returned from his last European solo tour. After returning from Europe, Jake hooked up with Engineer/Producer - Harvey Welsh - and together they crafted the album 'Songbook', which is now available through CDBABY. They recorded the LP over a three month period in Canberra and subsequently an EP off the album was featured by Norman McCourt in MIDEM - France and SXSW - Austin, Texas. After this Jake won the APRA "Songs of the City" competition which earnt him the title of Melbourne's best emerging solo artist whose music was as indicative of Melbourne as Bob Dylan's music is of New York. This is the first time that the LP has been released to the public and Mantracoda will be touring both this LP and the 'Door to Amaze' album, as well as a whole range of original material and compositions in the near future. The former front-man of Melbourne band 'Manifest' teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Andrea Murray to form the core of Mantracoda. After recording their first EP entitled 'Soundunes', they began working on their album called 'Door to Amaze' at the Dale Street Studios in Port Adelaide with the help of Engineer/Producer, Paul Dangerfield

After a small tour up the West Coast of Australia, Jake and Andrea have been tirelessly working on taking their unique organic fusion of music to the next level, creating awesome waves and taking their listeners and fans on sonic journeys to remember. They recorded their first film clip with Steve O'Connor for their song "Holly" which was released as part of an EP called 'Soundunes' which is also available through CDBABY. They have also released 3 Singles, 2 of which are off their 'Door to Amaze' album, which has been promoted by various radio stations around Australia with several 'Live-to Air' performances on Radio Adelaide and WOWFM.

The beauty of Mantracoda is in its inclusiveness of other nationalities, styles and influences in its music and is seen by the band more as a vehicle that takes them creatively where they want to go, offering their listeners something different and outside the mainstream. They try to enrich people's lives through their tireless dedication to their craft, inspiring people to think outside the square. They are currently playing around South Australia and have performed in festivals such as the Semaphore Music Fetival, Emergenza, the Port Adelaide Festival, as well as running an acoustic Sessions night at the Port Dock Brewery hotel. The LP 'Door to Amaze' is their latest offering and has to be heard to be believed and understood. Years of work, dedication and true musicianship have gone into this amazing production. They hope you enjoy the ride. For they know that once you open the 'Door to Amaze', many things inside you will find when you open your mind. So stay tuned... The Journey is On!!!

"Not very often do you listen to music that not only has been skillfully and whole-heardedly weaved and performed, but also has substantial depth. Depth born from the experience that travelling through life brings. It has been extremely joyful to have found such magic within each note of Mantracoda. Well Done! Amazing Work and I cannot wait for more! Miguel Lievano
