Solo Artist | Vocalist | DJ | Cultural Curator | Fashion Designer
Known for her nostalgic 90s R&B mashups over dancehall riddims, she has earned the title of “Dancehall Queen” within the Melbourne scene, championed by I Love Dancehall. She has opened for international acts including Sister Nancy, Kevin Lyttle, Konshens, Charly Black, Bushman, and Stranger Cole, and was nominated for Music Victoria Awards 2019 – Best Reggae & Dancehall Act.
Quashani Bahd™ is a Zimbabwe-born artist of Southern African heritage (Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, and Tanzania), based in Melbourne for nearly three decades. Her work sits at the intersection of music, culture, fashion, and performance.
Introduced to music at age nine through her father’s eclectic record collection, Quashani developed a deep appreciation for Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, R&B, World Music, Pop, and Rock. Without formal training, she refined her voice through school and church choirs, while her background in drama and public speaking shaped her confident, commanding stage presence.
She made her official Melbourne debut in February 2011 with Dub Vyze Sound at Oz Soul Collective (The Toff in Town), alongside Ranji Wickremasinge (Irie Band) and Kavinda Senanayake, introducing her signature acoustic reggae-blues fusion, “regglues.”
Over the years, Quashani has worked with leading reggae and dancehall selectors and promoters including Jesse I & Ras Crucial (Chant Down Sound), More Fire, Sista Itations (Natty Sistren Sound), Pressure Drop, DJ So Fire (I Love Dancehall), DJ Pit (Pull Up Selector), Troublemekka (Yard Bounce), Ras Tonny & RastaGirl Entertainment (Mashup Fridays), and Stick Mareebo & Zare Demus (Jamaican Music & Food Festival).
In 2020, she expanded into DJing, debuting with I Love Dancehall’s online sessions during the pandemic and hosting regular livestreams including her Pyjama Wine series. By 2023, she secured a residency at Vodka Temple, performing Mashup Fridays with Ras Tonny and RastaGirl Entertainment.
Her 2021 EP Bahd Gyal Rhymes blends Reggae, Hip Hop, Dancehall, and R&B, written by Quashani and produced by Simmer Town (mixed/mastered by Kayboku, Minnie Studios). During lockdown, she also styled and photographed the artwork herself, reflecting her multidisciplinary practice. The project is available across all major streaming platforms.
Beyond music, Quashani is a cultural curator and experienced event host, promoter, and planner. Notable events include the Bob Marley Tribute Show (2014, Horse Bazaar), Stevie Wonder Tribute Show (2015, Horse Bazaar), and Queens of the 90s (2019, The Night Cat).
She is also the founder, stylist, and designer behind House of Bahd formerly House of Bohochic, a fashion label established in 2009 in Melbourne, merging elevated street luxury with South East African cultural influences. Her performances are an extension of this vision—where sound, style, and identity are seamlessly woven together.
Looking ahead, 2026 marks a new chapter with the release of “Dancehall Needs You,” the final single from her upcoming album Rising, produced by Elliott Treves (Anoesis Studios, California). Alongside this, she prepares to launch her new House of Bahd collection, Safari Ya Tanganyika, continuing to expand her creative universe across music and fashion.
