Iconic Melbourne reggae ensemble Ras Jahknow Band, bring their dynamic, high-energy, positive music to the people with a stage show guaranteed to uplift and inspire with their powerful messages.

Ras Jahknow blazes new soul and fresh rhythms into what is described best as culturally rich, roots reggae music. Passionate vocals in English and Creole weave through the diverse native sounds from the African island nation of Cape Verde, Brazil, Tanzania and Mauritius to Australia. The band embodies a vision of unity, respect and peace, built on the foundation of irresistible, reggae rhythms, which has won them awards and seen them showcase at the Antenna Awards in 2014 and at numerous festivals across Australia.

2017 saw the band successfully tour in Indonesia, culminating with the Bali Reggae Star Festival, and represent Cape Verde in Malaysia for the Langkawi Island International Music Festival.

The released of their debut album 'Jah Sta Li' in 2014 to much acclaim, collecting a nomination for the award for The Age Music Victoria Genre Awards - 'Best Global or Reggae Album'.

In 2017, Ras Jahknow humbly accepted the award for 'Best Reggae Performer/Band of the year 2015/16' at the Australia Reggae Radio Music Awards.

2017 also saw Ras Jahknow bestowed an official commendation from African Media Awards, for his contribution to the African Community within Australia.

In 2018 Ras Jahknow was nominated for The Age Music Victoria Awards for ‘Best Reggae & Dancehall Act' and the winner of Afroshine Australia Awards - Excellence Artistic Talents (Music/Reggae).

Ras  Jahknow spent time in numerous countries abroad, developing a rounded cultural understanding, aiming to bridge the contemporary gaps and create a better sense of commUnity.

In 2019 Ras Jahknow will be touring Indonesia, Europe, Cape Verde and recording new material.

Ras Jahknow has spent time in numerous countries abroad, developing a rounded, cultural understanding, and through the Ras Jahknow Band, he aims to bridge the contemporary gaps in cultural understanding and unity.
