From the back of a Troop Carrier to the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Sari Abbott weaves coastal chill with a storyteller’s warmth, creating songs shaped by life on the road.
For the past two years, the singer-songwriter has called a Toyota Troop Carrier named Bob her home. From highways to back roads, she’s been chasing beaches, sunsets, and the stories that live in the far corners of Australia.
Now settled back in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Sari is bringing that coastal-country energy into her music. With a notebook overflowing with half-written songs, she’s ready to share the next chapter of her journey – inspired by the people she’s met, the lives she’s witnessed, and the simplicity and challenges of life on the road.
“The experiences I had, the people I met, and the stories I heard have inspired me to write more and I can’t wait to bring those stories to life in songs and music,” she said.
Her travels took her from isolated coastal towns to outback properties, learning how important family farms are and discovering that some of the best stories live in the furthest corners of the country.
“I really want to release singles because they are like timestamps of my experiences,” Sari said.
“I want to put my songs out in order so it’s a bit of a journey… when I’m old, I want to be able to remember all the experiences.”
A CMAA Academy graduate and Toyota Star Maker grand finalist, Sari’s accolades include wins at Noosa Alive, the Ekka Country Music Showdown, Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards, and the Australian Songwriting Awards. She’s performed at major festivals and supported artists including Taylor Moss, Ashleigh Dallas, Hayley Jensen, and Adam Brand. Earlier this year she opened for Taylor Moss in Melbourne and performs alongside Beccy Cole on the Gold Coast in February.
Now home, Sari continues to share her stories on stages across the coast and beyond, but the adventures with Bob aren’t over yet.
