Stellar Moon is the dynamic, cultural and powerful project of Monique Le Lievre, a First Nations Nyikina woman from Boorroola/Derby (living on Rubibi/Broome) in the Kimberley.
Stellar Moon & her band The Dark Knights deliver a powerful blend of roots, blues and soul. Driven by gritty vocals, deep grooves and funky horns, weaving story and spirit into song. These songlines move from soulful reflections to that big, fun, full-band feel. Singing partly in her mob’s Nyikina Nganka (language), Stellar Moon connects culture, Country and contemporary experience through music that is earthy, heartfelt and unapologetically powerful, leaving audiences stirred and uplifted.
Stellar Moon tours extensively, is well known on the Western Australian circuit and is now branching out into East Coast shows. She released her debut album ‘Phases’ in March 2024, with singles making waves in AMRAP’s top 10 for consecutive weeks. In 2026, Stellar has released 'Dark Night', the first single of her Sophomore album which gained traction in the charts for 6 weeks, pealing at #6 p nationally and #2 regionally. Her album set for release early next year.
Stellar Moon has played WA's major festivals such as Nannup Music Festival, the Bridgetown Blues and Ord Valley Muster and has supported Australian Music greats such as Christine Anu, Daryl Braithwaite and The Waifs
As well as performing, as Stellar Moon, Monique mentors emerging artists, runs a choir and other music circles, she is a qualified teacher, life coach and a seasoned workshop facilitator. Monique has written music for WA Health and the Australian Electoral Commission and curates/hosts two monthly singer-songwriter nights and helps run recording studio 'Red Earth Sound' with her partner in Broome.
