Heather Fiona is a Footscray-based songwriter who specialises in her own inimitable style of soulful retro-pop, blending together elements of blues, country and Motown while maintaining a distinct edge thanks to her captivating vocals and fiercely compelling delivery.
Heather's sophomore release ‘Two Steps’ is a dynamic work, diverging from her signature sound. The album, produced by Tim Guy, exhibits her ability to deliver cross-genre songwriting, ranging from pop-rock number 'Reckless Wonder' to the sultry, salty 'Dark Places' and folk/country numbers 'When I'm in Need' & 'Lucky to be Old when you Die’. Track 5 'Trouble' (released as a single in 2020) is a thrilling rumination on vulnerability, set to a backdrop of pleasantly lazy guitars and beaming horns. The title number, 'Two Steps', is a guaranteed toe tapper, recorded live complete with 9 piece band at Phaedra Studios, Coburg. Surprise stand out 'Ouch My Heart' is a quirky love song dedicated to unrequited affection.
