Zoe K’s latest single ‘Put it down’ from her upcoming album ‘It’s Just What I like’ features Mister Goldfinger aka Ray Angry. Angry has worked with the best in jazz, R&B, and hip-hop and regularly plays on Jimmy Fallon with The Roots. The song ‘Put It Down’ was written by Zoe K and was recorded at The Parlor Recording Studio in New Orleans. It features Mike ‘Bass’ Ballard (Trombone Shorty), Raja Kassis (Antibalas), Terrence Houston, (George Porter Jnr and The Funky Meters) and was mastered in Melbourne Australia by Tony ‘Jack The Bear’ Mantz. These music collaborations were made from her frequent visits to the USA where she showcased her talents at venues such as Rockwood Music Hall (NYC), Howlin Wolf (New Orleans) and was also a featured vocalist for HBO Treme star and Trumpet extraordinaire, Kermit Ruffins. It is for these reasons, independent self managed Zoe K shows no sign of slowing down. The album itself was recorded in both Melbourne (The Avairy Recording Hub) and New Orleans and features musicians both globally and locally.

Zoe K rose to prominence after being awarded 1233 ABC female vocalist of the year (2010) and went to perform at Woodford Festival as well as supporting an array of touring artists such as Jon Cleary for his Blues fest sideshows, Imelda May, and Australia’s queen of soul Renee Geyer. The proudly independent artist is renown for her sense of humor, enigmatic stage presence and non-traditional interpretation of soul, blues and jazz, Zoe’s forthcoming second album It’s Just What I Like is brimming with Zoe’s vivacious personality.

Originally from a small country town where marriage and Avon epresentation were the predominant domains of female aspiration, Zoe K was determined to break the mould. Spurning tradition for turntables, she spent years locked in her room mimicking every Etta James, Otis Redding and Miles Davis record she could find, eventually rising to prominence when she swept up the 1223 ABC Female Vocalist of the Year award in 2009. In the last five years, Zoe K has moved beyond her small town relocating to Melbourne.

She has also shared the stage with International Grammy award winning artist Jon Cleary for his Bluesfest sideshow and also supported Imelda May for her Australian Tour.

The album will be distributed through MGM and will be officially released on the 20th April 201. Zoe will be taking this album on the road in May before she returns to New Orleans to further her music collaborations as well as a residency at The Hi Ho Lounge.
