Cameron Love has been a songwriter for decades and a solo performer since 2019. Music and writing are equal loves, and neither is jealous of the other. Cameron loves melody, rhythm, harmony and wit. He is well versed in matters of the heart. His songs can rock, swing, lull and ache. He composes indie/alt/pop/rock on guitar and is learning not to wear out picks.
Late in 2021, work began on his first album with producer musician Kris Schubert, at The Boatshed studio in O’Connell, central west NSW. The first single, You Won’t Fall, a slow rocker in 6/8 time from the album Late released in September 2023, was a finalist in the inaugural Inland Sea of Sound festival’s regional songwriting contest in 2022, where he again represented in 2023, in both iterations of the event, now the Bathurst Regional Song Writing Contest, with songs I Wish You Everything and And Some May Find Happiness Too. The bluesy second single from Late, Empty Bottle, is accompanied by an evocative video on YouTube. A third power pop single, Balloons, followed. Two more singles, the mostly acoustic Nighttime Company, and the driving You're Alive, further support the album, post its release. After a hugely successful live launch of Late to a packed room at The Victoria Bathurst, CDs and vinyl are available merchandise.
A second recording project, the Five Four Three EP featuring guitar, cello and piano, was released in November 2024 and includes the lullaby single Eyes Closing Now To Dream. In the same month, Cameron was again a finalist in the Bathurst Regional Songwriting Contest, with Heart's Strong.
Recorded demos for a third project have been shortlisted, with plans to record a second long player in 2025.
Most recently, a new single Pulp Non-fiction was recorded at The Boatshed and released in June.
An avid supporter of live music, Cameron helps to develop community networks in regional centres to assist playing musicians and paying venues. Having recently relocated from Bathurst to the Hunter region, Cameron enjoys meeting and advocating for emerging artists, curating and staging live music events, and performing at and helping organise open mic nights so he and other musicians are prepared for paying gigs.
