Chucho Bruno is an Argentinian-born musician, composer, producer and interdisciplinary artist originally from Buenos Aires and now based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Working at the intersection of music, movement and visual art, his creative practice brings together composition, performance, improvisation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
A versatile multi-instrumentalist across guitar, drums, bass and keys, Chucho blends genres with ease, drawing from Afrobeat, jazz, soul, Latin rhythms and cinematic soundscapes. His work spans film scoring, commercial composition, solo and band performance, ensemble direction and music for multidisciplinary productions, often collaborating with visual artists to bring sound into conversation with other mediums.
His genre-fluid approach moves between jazz, experimental rock, electronic, world music and contemporary art, creating immersive musical environments that invite experimentation and challenge conventional boundaries.

ARTISTIC COLLABORATIONS
Chucho has contributed to diverse creative projects as a composer, producer and conductor, leading ensembles and developing original works that bring together varied cultural influences and contemporary approaches. His work with
Dancenorth Australia’s acclaimed production NOISE at Horizon Festival saw him directing a percussion ensemble and contributing to the work’s distinctive rhythmic language.
He is also the driving force behind
KARAKA ORCHESTRA, an eight-piece live ensemble shaped by his distinctive sign-based approach to conducting. Through gesture, rhythm and improvisation, Chucho guides the musicians in real time, creating spontaneous musical conversations and an evolving live experience.
KARAKA ORCHESTRA’s flagship project, SWEET SWEAT SET, is an immersive, untamed, dance-fuelled, polyrhythmic performance. Blending percussion, melody and improvisation, it creates a visceral, participatory experience that transforms the relationship between musicians, movement and audience.
Chucho also leads Karaka Club, a contemporary rhythm school where he guides 35+ students in percussion, improvisation and ensemble performance.
Driven by cultural exchange, innovation and creative experimentation, Chucho continues to develop work across disciplines, collaborating with artists and contributing to Australia’s contemporary arts landscape.
